The Story Behind "A Tribute to Bing Crosby Show"

Bob performingAfter graduating high school in Lansing, MI, Bob enlisted in the Army. While stationed in Korea, he listened to the Armed Forces Radio Network. This was where he first became interested in Bing Crosby and was first told that he sounded like the great master.

Bob has performed his Tribute to Bing Crosby Show for over 25 years throughout the United States. His unique tribute show is based on the career, music, and life experiences of Bing Crosby featuring many of Bing's most well-known recordings and million sellers. His many performances include theater stage shows, ballrooms, dinner theaters, and a variety of special event functions.

Bob's tribute show is endorsed by Kathryn Crosby and since November 2003 he has performed on several occasions with Kathryn Crosby in special tribute shows to her late husband, Bing Crosby. Bob is also endorsed by all the major Bing Crosby Fan Clubs including Bing's original fan club, International Club Crosby, founded in 1936 and still in existence today.

Listed among Bob's many memorable performances is singing "White Christmas" at Soldier's Field in Chicago, Illinois, at the half-time show for the Chicago Bear's play-off game in 1994 in front of a sold-out crowd of 68,000. Bob was also selected as a featured performer for Bing's 100th Birthday Celebration held at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, in May 2003.  This international affair was attended by fans and collectors from around the world, well-known celebrities, Kathryn Crosby and several members of the Crosby family.

Other recent highlights in his career include a Christmas show at the Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for a sold out audience of 2,000; three performances on the Celtic Roots Stage at the 25 th Anniversary Milwaukee Irish Festival; a high rollers Christmas party at the Grand Casino, Hinckley, Minnesota; and the Red Hat Birthday Bash, Tucson, AZ, presenting a Tribute to Bing Crosby and Friends Show which included friends Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Jimmy Durante, and Jack Benny. (see memorable performance list)

Bob is also an avid Bing Crosby collector. Today his world-class collection contains hundreds of unique items including Bing's first recording and personal items presented to him by Crosby Family members. His collection and show has been featured in several newspaper articles and television newscasts throughout the United States. Through his collection, Bob studied Bing's career, his mannerisms, and his approach to a song to become an expert on Bing's life and career which is incorporated in his show presentation.

Bob and his wife, Lenora, had the opportunity to meet Bing's close friend, Rosemary Clooney, and life-long friend, Bob Hope.  They also visited at length with Maxine Andrews of the Andrews Sisters who made several recordings with Bing including his first gold record.

Bob says, "My greatest pleasure is helping to keep Bing's music alive and bringing back memories for those old enough to remember Bing's career and introducing his music to those that are too young to remember." He considers it an honor to present a tribute show to this outstanding entertainer of the 20th Century
